Spicy Mustard, Potter’s Clay and Aurora Red are just some of the Pantone picks in this year’s Fashion Color Report for Fall 2016.
Illustrating “A Unity of Strength, Confidence and Complexity,” the season’s 10-color palette is inspired by “the desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism,” led by the blue family, according to Pantone.
The Fall 2016 colors are:
“Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections,” said Pantone. “Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades.”
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute noted that the different shades each have significance. “Blue skies represent constancy, as they are always above us,” said Eisman. “Grays give a feeling of stability. Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.”
