Ergonomics is a Buzz Word often used in describing the right kind of chair for your back. The actual definition of ergonomics is the study of things that help lessen muscle fatigue and eliminates injuries and disorders associated with the overuse of muscles.
We have come used to hearing about Ergonomics as it relates to our workplace, but Occupational Therapists will tell you that selecting the right handbag is just as important as selecting the right keyboard and will result in less fatigue on your shoulders and back.
Here are some tips for selecting the right handbag as given by 3 Occupational Therapists:
**Buy different sizes of handbags for different occasions
**Avoid heavily loading tote style bags which are worn over the shoulder.
**Select handbags with built-in compartments. This will help to distribute the weight more evenly.
**Choose a handbag that is proportionate to your body size and not larger than what is needed.
**Avoid thin and long straps; straps should be wide and adjustable to ensure that pressure caused by the straps does not cause discomfort.
You might think that an Ergonomically correct handbag will not be fashionable but nothing could be further from the truth. We have the most fashion forward handbags that have all the features mentioned above and yet no one with know that your gorgeous bag is ergonomically correct!
Take Becki, this beautiful handbag from Brighton, for example. She is roomy enough to support all of your neccessities but not so big that she will weigh you down. Plus she features many interior pockets for even weight distribution! Our favorite feature about her is that wonderful hand braided strap – not only is it absolutely gorgeous, it is designed to mold to your shoulder as you wear it and even flattens slightly where it rests on your body. It gets more comfortable with every wear!
Our stylists are always happy to help you find the perfect handbag, one that suits your fashion forward tastes to keep your body looking and feeling great!
